Have You Gone Fishing Lately?

You have a calling from God today. It's a high calling, but it's one that you're ready for. How do I know? Because He made you ready.

"And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19).

Maybe you'll never have the skills, talent or even the resources to catch a bass, trout or other choice fish, but you do have an ability granted to you by God to catch souls. And that's exciting!

As you follow Jesus, He makes you (or equips you and empowers you) to win souls for the Kingdom. At the very moment that you surrender to Him, He places within you every anointing needed to be a powerful witness for Him. In fact, the Word of God declares that He who wins souls is wise. (Proverbs 11:30) You have the very wisdom of God at hand to lead you into "ripe" situations and places in order to reap or catch the harvest of men's souls.

Matthew 9:37a tells us that there is a harvest of men's souls out there in the world today waiting to be reaped: "The harvest truly is plenteous…”. "Well why doesn't God just save them then?" The answer to that is found in the second half of verse 37, "but the laborers are few." God needs laborers! God needs you! Imagine that! We are co-laborers with God and that simply means that we have a part to play in bringing souls into the Kingdom and God has a part.

We must realize that God's presence and working in this earth is only going to come through us as we yield ourselves to Him. Furthermore, we are commanded by the Lord to pray for laborers to be sent into the harvest fields. Believe God that Christians everywhere are awakening to this call to be fishers of men and thereby catch men for Christ.

There's never been a more appropriate time than now to bring souls into the Kingdom of God. It appears that nowadays, and I've actually experienced this to be true, if you even approach a soul regarding salvation arid being born again that they almost immediately surrender to the Lord. People's hearts everywhere are hungering for God and the answers that can only be found in God. They're ready! They're ready! I hear the Lord saying.

"Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh the harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.” John 4:35

What a glorious time we're living in! It's the time of the greatest harvest that this world has ever seen, and God has chosen you and I to assist Him in bringing it into His kingdom. What a privilege! What an honor!
So let's be sensitive in the days ahead to walk in that original calling that Jesus issued to every believer. Be sensitive to watch for and recognize God-given opportunities to witness for the Lord, share your testimony of faith about what God has done in your life and win precious souls into the Kingdom. God will give you the opportunities, and as you exercise your faith muscle and step out in them, you'll find yourself becoming a better man-fisher than you ever dreamed you could be. We're past the days of having a quiet faith that doesn't extend itself to others to minister the love of God. We are the chosen generation to bring in this end-time harvest of souls and we've got a job to do. Start now by saying yes to this call and watch as you become the greatest fisherman of all time--to the glory of God!
