Making a Difference...With God

I’m sure there’s someone you know—someone in your life—that you would like to see saved, changed, blessed, delivered, or healed by the mighty hand of God. Possibly someone you’ve prayed for or tried to minister to in times past. And up to now, it may have seemed like there wasn’t much you could do to bring about that breakthrough. Well, I want to let you know that no matter what you’ve experienced to date, you do have what it takes to make a difference and open the door for God to bring about His great salvation.

…The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. James 5:16, AMP

If you are a born again believer today, then God has given you an awesome promise: the promise that your prayers, when heartfelt and continual and hot with intensity, will produce the very power of God! You have the tremendous power of prayer! But notice the scripture here is not referring to any old kind of praying. It’s not talking about on again-off again prayers. It’s not talking about lukewarm—bless ‘em Lord—type prayers. But instead, it’s talking about a prayer that’s so fervent, so hot and boiling with intensity and faith and expectation that it moves the very hand of God.

Throughout the Scripture God reveals the power of intercession. Intercession is simply you praying for and on behalf of someone else. The book of Job tells us that God will deliver—not might or maybe—those for whom we intercede. And later in that very book, we see Job’s intercession for his friends and the power it releases in both their lives, as well as his life. (Job received a double blessing from God after that!) (See Job 22:30; 42:10.)

Your prayers really do count with God. In another example in Scripture, we see the power of intercession being used by Abraham to make a difference with God. In this instance, Abraham knew that God was about to destroy the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, however there was just one problem—Lot, Abraham’s nephew, lived in Sodom. Abraham did not want to see his beloved family member destroyed, too, so he began to cry out to God and intercede for Lot, and each time God agreed to Abraham’s request. Ultimately Lot’s life was indeed spared when God poured out his wrath on those cities. Abraham made a difference with God. (See Genesis 18:20-33; 19:1-24.)

Wherever you are today make a quality decision to press in and make a difference with God in the life of another. God is looking for an intercessor and is amazed when He can’t find one. He sees a hurting, dying world, wayward children, a struggling marriage, a lost soul, etc., and then wonders at the fact that there is no one interceding for them!

Determine not to let Him have to look any further. You are righteous, so exercise the dynamic, awesome power that God has given to you through prayer. And if you have been praying, CONTINUE! For how long, you ask? Until you receive the end of your faith.

Don’t allow the devil to convince you that things will never change or get any better, for God has promised that they will. Don’t be weary in well doing, but continue to raise your voice up to God and expect a miracle. Just think, there was someone who prayed for you one day—and what a difference it made!
