Being Equipped to Minister Life

Almost everywhere you turn these days there are reports of tragedy, destruction and death. When these things occur, there are emergency workers who are trained and equipped to come on the scene and render the necessary aid. For those who are especially trained and adept, they can offer much needed comfort and make a person's final moments less harrowing. A key to the value they bring is their understanding of the gravity of life--and death.

Even more important than a person's physical well-being, in instances like this, is his or her spiritual well-being. They must be born-again! (John 3:3,7.) For without the status of 'saved' or 'born-again', they will face a Christ-less eternity of hell. However, God does not will this for anyone, and the good news is that we, as His representatives here on the earth, can do something about it. We can stop the worst tragedy anyone could ever face and minister eternal life to them. We can lead them to salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Maybe until now you have never really known how to effectively lead someone to the Lord. Not to fret. You are about to become a skilled workman/woman for God as you learn to use the tools found in the believer's life-aid kit. These tools will prepare you to be used by God whenever and wherever He needs you.

The life-aid kit contains 3 simple steps which will guarantee an eternity with God:

Step 1:

Admit that you are a sinner. (Psalm 51:5.) Before we can receive salvation, we must acknowledge the fact that we need it. We are sinners from birth--not because of anything we've done, but instead because of what Adam did in the Garden of Eden. When he sinned against God, every person born thereafter inherited his sinful nature. Jesus came to right that wrong and restore us to God, however until we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we continue as sinners.

Step 2:

Repent of your sins. (I John 1:9.) Once we acknowledge our sinful nature, we must then repent of our sins and ask the Lord for His forgiveness. True repentance includes a change of mind and heart. It represents a 180 degree turn from the devil and his ways to God and His ways. The great blessing of repentance is that everything that you've ever done before that moment is now forever gone and wiped away by the blood of Jesus. It's thrown into the sea of forgetfulness never to be remembered again.

Step 3:

Confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior. (Romans 10:9, 10.) In the Scripture reference noted here, we find that complete salvation comes as we confess with our mouths the Lord Jesus (or confess that Jesus is our Lord) and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead. Once you make this confession with faith in your heart, you are saved! At that moment, Jesus becomes the Lord of your life, and Satan is kicked off the throne. And most importantly, you have the assurance of an eternal destiny with God in heaven.

There you have it--the essential tools to aid you as a kingdom-builder and minister of life. Rehearse these and practice ministering them to others until it becomes an innate part of you. You may even want to write them down on a note card and carry them with you wherever you go. You never know when you'll have the opportunity to alter someone's destiny.

So be alert to the Holy Spirit and remember it's as easy as 1..2..3.
